Why I Do Not Put an Expiry Date on Student Feedback
I believe that completing an online course and becoming confident in applying what you have learned are two very different things.
You can watch every lesson, understand the demonstrations and practise the techniques. But sometimes the questions only begin when you start working independently, especially when you encounter a situation you have not experienced before.
This is one of the reasons I decided that personal feedback in my online nail courses should not have a fixed expiry date.
And that decision comes from my own experience as a student.
Quick Answer: Does Personal Feedback Expire in Artistic Touch Courses?
No. Every Artistic Touch course that includes personal feedback provides it without a fixed expiry date. Completing an online course and becoming confident in applying what you have learned are two very different things, and sometimes the questions only begin when you start working independently.
I Have Been on the Other Side of Online Education
Although I am a professional nail educator, I am also continuously learning.
I regularly take upskilling courses because I believe there is always something new to understand, another perspective to consider or an existing skill to develop further.
Being an educator does not mean that I have stopped being a student.
Over the years, I have invested in courses where access to the training and educator feedback was limited to three months.
I understand that educators have different ways of structuring their courses and support. However, I experienced something that genuinely disappointed me.
I had case studies that I wanted to submit for feedback. Unfortunately, I was only a couple of days outside the permitted support period.
There had been no reminder that my access to feedback was about to expire. No message a week before the deadline to let me know that I needed to submit any outstanding work.
When I contacted the educator, I was simply told that my support period had ended.
My case studies were left unanswered.
What frustrated me was not only the time limit itself. It was having work I had completed, questions I wanted answered and no longer having the opportunity to receive the feedback I had originally expected.
That experience stayed with me.
Learning Does Not Always Follow a Three-Month Schedule
Something I have learned both from taking courses and from working professionally is that understanding develops through experience.
You might complete a lesson today and feel that everything makes sense.
But a few weeks later, when you encounter a different nail type, a challenging cuticle or an unexpected result, you may suddenly have a question you had not thought to ask before.
That does not necessarily mean you failed to understand the lesson.
Sometimes you need to experience a situation yourself before you recognise what you still need to learn.
And that is exactly when feedback can become particularly valuable.
Why I Made Personal Feedback Ongoing at Artistic Touch
When developing my online training, I knew I wanted to approach student support differently.
I did not want students to feel pressured to complete every practical exercise and ask every possible question before an arbitrary deadline.
I wanted them to have the opportunity to return to their training, practise, encounter new situations and ask questions as their understanding develops.
That is why every Artistic Touch course that includes personal feedback provides it without a fixed expiry date.
For me, feedback is not simply telling someone whether their work looks good.
It is about understanding what they have done, discussing what may have caused a particular result and helping them recognise what they should assess or approach differently next time.
Learning a technique and developing the judgement to apply it to different clients are not the same thing.
When a Student Recognises the Difference
One of my Russian Manicure – Beyond Technique students, Nicole, recently shared something that meant a great deal to me because she recognised exactly what I had hoped to achieve.
★★★★★
“Really enjoyed this course! Radina explains not just how to do things, but why, which makes everything easier to understand. I have taken other courses before where the student support was only available for a couple of months, so I really appreciate that here the support is ongoing with no time limit. Being able to ask questions and get personal feedback whenever you need it makes such a difference!”
— Nicole, Russian Manicure – Beyond Technique student
What I appreciate about Nicole’s feedback is that she did not only mention the ongoing support.
She also recognised the importance of understanding why we do something, rather than simply learning the movements.
These two things are closely connected to my teaching philosophy.
I want students to develop their own professional judgement, not become dependent on copying a demonstration without understanding it.
I Am Still Learning, Too
I have been working professionally with nails since 2014, and I still invest in developing my knowledge.
I do not believe that reaching a certain level of experience means there is nothing left to learn.
New experiences can challenge what we think we know. Different educators can offer different perspectives. Even familiar techniques can reveal something new when we look at them more carefully.
That is also why I understand the importance of being able to ask questions after a course has finished.
The end of the lessons should not necessarily be the end of the learning process.
And that is the principle behind the ongoing personal feedback I chose to provide at Artistic Touch.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Every Artistic Touch course that includes personal feedback provides it without a fixed expiry date.
Why do you not put an expiry date on student feedback?

What do you mean by personal feedback?
For me, feedback is not simply telling someone whether their work looks good. It is about understanding what they have done, discussing what may have caused a particular result and helping them recognise what they should assess or approach differently next time.
Is this based on your own experience?
Yes. I have invested in courses where access to educator feedback was limited to three months. I was once only a couple of days outside the support period, and the case studies I wanted feedback on were left unanswered. That experience stayed with me.
